CycloudForte Launches ArcheaOne, an AI Fraud Detection Engine for African Fintechs

Fraud moves fast, and most fintechs are still reacting to it after the damage is done. By the time a fraudulent transaction is flagged, the money has often already moved. For African fintechs, the challenge is not simply finding a fraud detection tool. It is finding one that understands the environment it is built to protect.

Financial platforms across Africa process thousands of transactions every day, but fraud patterns, infrastructure and payment systems can differ significantly from those in other markets. A detection system built around one region's fraud behaviour does not automatically translate to another. This is the gap CycloudForte, a Nigerian cybersecurity startup founded in January 2025, is trying to address with ArcheaOne.

ArcheaOne is an AI-powered fraud detection engine designed to analyse transactions in real time and flag suspicious activity before it becomes a loss. On the PaySim benchmark, it currently detects 90% of fraudulent transactions.

The product is also designed to work alongside existing systems. CycloudForte recently added a shadow mode layer that allows companies to run ArcheaOne alongside their current fraud detection systems and evaluate its performance on live data before making a switch. The engine is built to integrate into an existing technology stack without requiring a complete rebuild.

CycloudForte is preparing for ArcheaOne's digital launch on September 21, with early conversations already underway with fintech and lending platforms interested in piloting the product.

The company is approaching fraud prevention as more than a technology problem. ArcheaOne is part of a broader security strategy that includes FinSecure, CycloudForte's security training programme for teams. The idea is straightforward: fraud detection works best when people and technology work together. An AI model can identify patterns a person may miss, while a trained security team can respond to situations a model has not learned to recognise.

There is already early evidence of demand for this approach. FinSecure's first cohort sold out within 24 hours from a single WhatsApp post, with zero advertising spend.

For CycloudForte, Africa is the starting point, not the limit.

The company's ambition is to build a fraud detection standard that can compete globally while remaining grounded in the realities of the market where the problem was first understood. CycloudForte is building a security company that happens to be built in Africa, rather than one built only for Africa.
